They can access your roof via a tree or climbing the wall. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">There is a good chance that you will have raccoons in your attic <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">sometime<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How did Raccoons Get in the Attic of My House &#8211; what to do?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Once they are in, you have to get them out quickly before they do more damage, before <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">they<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> leave urine all over the place, and before they leave raccoon scat or poop in your attic. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">They could also have babies inside the attic, and then it is <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">very difficult<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to get rid of them <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">until<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> they are old enough to travel alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Once they are in your attic, the best way to get rid of them is to install a one-way trap door over the entrance so they can get out but not back in. It is made of wire mesh and screwed into the roof. Once they are out, replace the trap door with heavy gauge wire mesh so they can never get into your attic at that location.
